Frequently asked questions

Standing Tall Life Skills

Is a 501(c)3 non-profit established in 2019 to address a void in the available services offered to young people who were experiencing social and emotional issues. We designed a program where life skills are taught and demonstrated with the aid of our horses. We believe each child has the ability to be the best they can be by preparing them to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and leaders by building self-esteem.

How does Standing Tall Work?

Currently, our classes are conducted in the summer at 974 Hwy 68, Crossville, TN 38555. We will soon be taking our bus on the road where we can offer classes to schools, neighborhoods, and special events. We require an application and waiver of liability, which can be found on this website.

How much does it cost?

Our program is free to everyone! We rely on donations, grants, and fundraisers to fund our program. Donations provide food and vet care for the horses, backpacks, journals, and a personal hygiene pack. We also provide the kids healthy snacks such as fresh fruit, vegetables, and graham crackers.

Do you offer professional mental health care with Equine Assisted Learning?

NO! Our staff are mentors who listen and give kids an opportunity to learn skills that will empower them to overcome obstacles and be better communicators, learning healthy boundaries, and work as a team member within their family. Our team is gentle and supportive in helping kids self-regulate their behaviors. Our horses help kids learn about mutual respect, empathy, and acceptance. It works!
